I may go over this in ballpoint pen and cut the building out, and stand it up on a base of small bristol paper. I hope to make more of these small drawings soon. I am going to try to go out and take some photographs of houses myself (for these future drawings).

This is an illustrated map that my brother and I made for a film series that some of our friends are working on.

The main thing I worked on was hand-writing all of the names for places, and I also made the icons for the College of Magic, Lanford Castle, and the Lucky Loon Inn.

(I already re-blogged this from my brother’s tumblr (using my “main” tumblr blog), but since this dylandavisart blog is intended for things I made, I just wanted to make my own post for it as well.)

These are a series of illustrations on cardboard that I made a while ago as an attempt to expand upon the first one (Fly and Soup), which I made in a class. The recurring theme is a fly buzzing through groups of people or creatures or objects. They are all a bit old - the first is 2 years ago, the rest are from 2011, I think… but I liked them and wanted to share them. I started a few others (just abstract shapes made from watercolor right now), but these are the three that were more resolved.

I prefer how the original drawing looks, as opposed to this Photoshop levels-adjusted version, but it’s the only way to make it visible enough to see properly online, so I accept that.

Some selected sketches from June and July 2012. The random letters and falling tiles was imagination stuff drawn during a car trip. Flowers were from community garden on the greenway. Construction vehicle was from a construction site near Rainbow Foods in Uptown. Had some nice comments from passerby on the flowers and vehicle sketches.

This is the first progress shot of a new maze illustration I started in the past week (with some preparation also, in the weeks preceding that week). Sorry for the poor photo quality, I don’t currently have access to a scanner. It is going to be inspired by places in the neighborhood area and community around where I live (where I live is across the street from the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and close to the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, where I just graduated from this past May).
